Compadre Interpreter v2.3 Release Notes

Thank you for choosing SpeechGear’s Compadre™:Interpreter for your instant language translation solution. We would appreciate any feedback you can provide, as your comments will enable us to make future releases that much better.

System Requirements

Required Storage Space

  • 22 MB minimum for the installed program and dictionaries
  • Additional language pairs require additional storage space.
  • Windows Mobile™ 5.0 and 6.0 especially need at least 22 MB in Main memory for Interpreter to be installed correctly.  The installers in these OSs expand all the files to Main memory and then move them to their destination folders. Therefore this is a temporary but essential need.

  • Desktop PC
  • Windows Mobile™ Pocket PC with touchscreen
  • Pocket PC Cradle
  • USB connection port

Required Software

  • Desktop PC Operating System: Windows® 98, Windows® 2000, Windows® ME, Windows® XP, or later version
  • On Desktop PC: Microsoft® ActiveSync® 3.5 or later version
  • PDA Operating System: Windows Mobile™ 2003, Windows Mobile™ 2003SE, Windows Mobile™ 5.0 or Windows Mobile™ 6.0

System Limitations

  • You must install the application and the dictionaries to the same storage. Interpreter will not work if they are split between Main memory and the SD Card.

Known Bugs

  • Do not switch translation direction by opening a dictionary from the File->Open... menu. The voices that speak the translations won't be switched. Workaround: Open the Options->Languages... menu and click OK.
  • If you record a translation for a multi-part phrase in several sections instead of in one recording, you will not be able to delete it and get back to the original installed recording.
