Compadre Composer v2.2 Release Notes
Compadre™:Composer
is
the library of translations for SpeechGear's
entire Compadresuite.
This
includes
- Machine Translator (MT) - a software program that
translates between two languages. MTs
are an integral part of Composer and
cannot be edited by
the user.
- Translation Memory (TM) - SpeechGear TMs come in three
forms.
- Interpreter uses an .idct file for its TM.
- Interactuses
a SGTM database.
- Documentuses
a TMX file which is a Localization Industry Standards Association
(LISA) standard format.
Composer
contains an
editor for all three forms and also an Import/Export feature to share
data between SGTMs and TMXs.
System Requirements:
- Operating Systems:
- Microsoft
Windows® XP Professional, Microsoft Windows® XP Desktop or
Tablet Edition, Windows® Vista.
- If you are editing Interpreter dictionaries resident on your
Mobile device (PDA) you will
need:
- Microsoft ActiveSync®: 3.5 or later version
- Pocket PC Cradle
- USB connection port
New Features in 2.2:
- Vista compliant
- Supports non-English versions of Microsoft® Windows
Bugs fixed in this release:
- Installer needs to include .NET framework
- Sometimes Composer cannot
open an Interpreter
dictionary
- Unhandled Exception when canceling opening of a .idct from
a device
- Does not display certain of the TMX entries
- Open dialog doesn't exit after opening a file via the Open
button with no type selected
- New TMX file gets data from previous file.
- After install of Interact, Composer aborts
while opening a
TMX file
- Replace All doesn't replace all instances
- Replace stuck in loop
- TMX files without notes field throw exception in
replace
- Can't import certain tab-delimited txt files
- Public translation is returned before the Private
translation.
- Export of SGTM to TMX sets the Target language to English
always
Here are some suggestions we have for optimal performance:
- Right click in the window of the TM to get a context menu
of editing commands
- The Maximize All command will maximize only the window with
focus. This is how the Multiple Document Interface (MDI) is designed.
- TM windows can be resized down to nothing which, of course,
hides all the controls and the data. This is so that the Tile
Horizontally/Tile Vertically commands will work without overlapping the
windows.
- You can export a TMX file to a tab-delimited .txt file and
conversely import a tab-delimited .txt file into a TMX file. Thus you
can make use of translation data from other sources.
Known Bugs
- There is no "Are you sure?" pop up window when you click on
Translation
Memory->Delete Entry
menu item. The selected entry is deleted immediately.
- Workaround: There
is an undelete feature that you can use
if
you delete an entry by mistake.
