SpeechGear Improves Ability for users to Add New Vocabulary to their Instant Translation Products
Released August 20, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 14, 2009 - Northfield, MN – SpeechGear, Inc., the leading provider of instant language translation products, announced the release of an upgrade to its entire Compadre Suite that improves the ability for customers to add their own vocabulary to the system.

“One of the needs expressed by customers is the ability to add their own vocabulary to the systems,” said Robert Palmquist, SpeechGear’s President and CEO. “This is a capability that we’ve had in our products for sometime, but it was fairly difficult for individuals to use – this new release simplifies this process for entry of translation meanings as well as pronunciations.”

New terms and their associated meaning are entered into the suite’s Composer™ translation engine. This translation engine is shared by all of the Compadre modules. With built-in vocabulary editing and list management functionality, Composer serves as the single-source location for updating and sharing translation vocabulary between Compadre systems. The ability to add new vocabulary and use this in generating translations is part of SpeechGear’s patented technology for instant language translation. This particular technology is covered in U.S. Patent 7,359,849.

In addition to adding vocabulary to the Composer translation engine, SpeechGear has also included the ability to add the same vocabulary to Interact’s speech recognition engine. As an example, you can enter the acronym HUMVEE® and its appropriate translation(s) into the Composer translation engine, and tell Interact that you prefer to pronounce HUMVEE as a single word versus the individual letters “H” “U” “M” “V” “E” “E”. With these entries, your entire suite of Compadre products is automatically updated so that HUMVEE is properly translated whenever and wherever it is used in your communications.
